HC Newsletter - November 30, 2007

Friends,

A quick note to let you all know that the film itself is nearly (and finally) complete. In the next few weeks we will be making prints of the film from the negative, which is the last step in this LONG process.

As we start to determine when and where we will premier the film, we are also working on putting together the marketing approach that we feel will optimize our chances at securing distribution. One aspect that we have recently finalized is our festival poster, and we are tremendously excited about it, so we thought we'd share it with you. Many of you were polled on the multitude of options our designer created, and this one was the clear winner.

We're eager to hear your feeback on it.

Regards,

Jason

Hey, Heather. No, HUMBOLDT COUNTY won't be screening at Sundance, but we will be premiering the film at a notable festival sometime in the next few months. Stay tuned for more details, which should come in the next few weeks...

I'm also really excited about this. Was this shot in Arcata? I'm wondering why I didn't hear more about this, living in such a small town in the middle of nowhere. Will it be shown at the Minor?

Yes, the film was shot in Arcata, as well as Eureka, McKinleyville, Trinidad, and Blue Lake. We thought about shooting other places that were "more convenient" for fliming (i.e., that were closer to big cities where crew and equipment are more readily availabile), but as those of you who live in or have been to Humboldt know, there's no substitution for the real thing. We have always said that the county itself was a character in the film, so it was imperative that we find a way to shoot in the true location. We had fantastic help from locals and the decision to shoot there was one of the best (and easiest) ones we made.

We don't have plans yet to show the film up there, but in the coming weeks/months we will know more and naturally let you all know.
